Invitation to purposely thinking
This is indeed an invitation to purposely thinking . I love words and I might get confused that this is my art, whereas it's the viewing and thinking. Words are beautiful . The words are a way to record the idea. When you get the idea , you need to write it down ( i write the idea down in English language; which is a language i feel very connected to ) . If you read those words you wrote again, the idea comes back in full. The whole thing is an ornament that moves you around the idea thus helps you not forget it . The idea is very different from the words you spell out , but they protect you from forgetting the purpose, to be exact That is a good motivation on why we need to write immediately down-to unfold the idea, which is my art of thinking which is conceptual art.
Conceptual art is defined as artwork whose medium is an idea (or a concept), emphasizing that its concerns are idea based rather than formal. This form of art prioritizes the importance of the concept over technique and aesthetics. Essentially, it is art for which the idea behind the work is more important than the finished art object. This definition for me describes the art of thinking or purposely thinking . If one remains true to the idea, the idea will serve a purpose in all its honesty. In philosophy and in common usage, an idea (from the Greek word: ἰδέα (idea), meaning 'a form, or a pattern') from the root of ἰδεῖν idein, 'to see' is the result of thought. Also in philosophy, ideas can also be mental representational images of some object. Now, I'm willingly to untangle an idea in its corpse ,which is divided in three stages. Those stages are Movement( awakens perception-taste, rhythm ,flow), Feeling ( depends perception into emotion and intuition)and Character ( which gives it form, identity or purpose).
MOVEMENT
The world around us doesn't need to explain itself and when it doesn't that is a gift. It invites us to explore, to discover ,to act without expecting immediate answers . Cinema is one such medium in which ideas are presented through moving pictures that engage both our intellect and intuition. Viewers are invited to feel their way through the story, to follow the rhythm of the plot rather than chase conclusions. In a way , they are forced in movement and forced in the feeling that follows a movement (i will come back to this ) . In life ,this same movement unfolds when we learn by doing -take risk in doing something and letting it to be seen . It's like falling in love , the idea has no body itself but it guides you through . We learn of what moves us , what we like and don't like. So, in this activity one can find its taste and raise questions. Questions like "What really was it that moved me towards it?" Maybe , the idea is moving the same way we are. Any kind of question . The "Wh"(why ,who, what,w hen)- is curiosity translated . The questions raised are therefore the poison that infects us and force us to think(esoteric movement ). Time is a conscious decision in the movement state. The matters have to be slowed down to examinate . The linear progress is a very hurtful to the idea progress. Words are the ornament we mentioned , before that will guide you through the process as they themselves carry as well the movement, the feeling and the character. Expressing them will slowly start showing the idea in it's whole and tell you if artifacts need to move in fast or slow pace.
FEELING
We all are aware that the life we live in is not happening on a surface level . The sweet meaning of life is catching ideas . We are not aware of when this might occur. Ideas catch us quietly and unexpectedly. In each stage of life , each shift of mind we open new dimensions and see differently. The subconscious prepares us to see ,what we move in us ,we move a feeling around our actions. In the moment we allowed movement , the feeling followed. How can we see? We see by viewing -seeing in truest essence of the word ,as the Greeks meant when they spoke of "idea". Through careful , almost geometric observation ,we begin to receive the essence of what is before us. We project it outward, shaping it into form , laying the foundation of a dream to emerge. For some this process can be discovered through meditation , for me it's sports that is a big source of happiness and in all leads me to clarity, preserving a good state of well being on the inside. Happiness plays a great role. It is a mistake to think that creativity requires suffering. Van Gogh' s pain for example did not make his art ; rather, his art was his way he reached for joy. I've read something that comes of cliché, "Happiness is not something to be found outside ourselves , happiness lies within " .Feeding ourselves with gratitude and positivity ,builds a safety net to look inside of us and find more of where the idea lies . What we tend to look and examinate is really a projection of ourselves. We can romanticize as much as we want a painting with a starving artist , but the artist itself wasn't starving while creating it . He was in a good state, in movement , fed with an idea that was moving him. So , the more happy thoughts you have the more you will create. Creation has no manual . It demands patience , courage and honesty, though. Yet the less we resist, the freer the work becomes. Stay true to the essence now that you emerge the idea with all goodness , intuition will unlock itself and guide as well-the whether we are right or wrong. When the feeling matures into awareness, it stars to seek a form , a medium , a body through which it can speak. That is where character begins .
CHARACTER
After conquering the elements of taste trough movement and intuition through feeling , the idea is almost ready - It is liked by ourselves and it feels right . Right in a way that will lead us to where this idea has to be presented . Things move very differently when they are about be seen . As if the analogy of a river flowing in another direction once it was seen by the sun. Remember , shame is a very temporary feeling .This fear will likely hold us back in presenting the ideas . It is also judgment we are afraid of . Judgment aims to activate a defence system for the idea and build for it a character . We are sure why it was right and good . Overcoming this and fighting for it will have forming a thought with a purpose. The idea has become alive ,character is not the end of the process, but the moment we recognised ourselves within it, the identity.
(I write because i have many mental images as a visionary myself. The art itself starts by thinking, continuous by projecting and it's the way of living. Do you know people who suffer from aphantasia ?)
Perspective projection exercises suggested as you dive deep into purposely thinking (you can literally take few examples of shapes in your mind from Second Grade ) and maybe mute colour- trying visualizing things in black and white will force you to focus on the information ,the shapes or textures ,something you haven't noticed before with all the abstractions of colour.
* I dream in Black and White , sometimes ,which is very Strange .
*Black and White and the Power they hold will get their own subject one day in this page.
Greek Statues of my Philosophy School
From the threefold self
that Freud defined for me, the Ego,
the different from it, the Other,
and the nothing to do with the Ego, the Superego,
stood before the one,
the two,
the three-tiered ruins of the soul,
unable to live any other life.
And before Godard could seize this scene of me observing them
for some cinematic shot,
the Ego fleetingly wondered:
"What if those who protest when watching films,
are the ones who are ashamed for not reacting in real life?
It left before disturbing the silence
and before stone could be broken
by Light.
